Stage 10 of the Vuelta Kolbi was another mountain stage. Mostly flat for the first 100km, the peloton then go over a category 1 climb, 15,9km at 6% grade with 1000m of elevation gain, followed by a descent to Perez Zeledon.

How it unfold:
With the first 100km being pancake flat and with a tough finish with a very hard and long climb (16km at 6% with passage up to 16%), many riders tried to go in a breakaway to start the climb with some gap. Team For the Planet managed to put Julien Gagné and Ryan Roth in a 10 riders move. Things look good for them, but the JPS team had another plan in mind. Unlike stage 6, they did'nt let so much ground to the break and the group only started the climb with a tiny 2min lead on the peloton.

Julien Gagné managed a good climb finish in 12th position, only 6min27 back on a flying Rojas. Julien: "I was happy to get in the break today and also to have a 28 cog !"

Jean-Michel did his best to limit the time loose, being 10th in GC before the stage. Jean-Michel: "Sometimes, you have to pick your battles. That climb was too steep and long for me, and I was completely cracked after the stage. Going to the hotel after the podium ceremony, I walk my bike for 300m up a hill not able to go on the bike with my back pack. Hopefully, I have something left in the legs for tomorow tt."

Julien continue to impress in Costa Rica. Youngest rider in the race and cracking another top 15 in a mountain finish.
